The next set of pictures are from Cappadocia.

Cappadocia means “Land of the Horses,” and it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in my life. It’s known for its fairy chimneys (which are cone-shaped rocks) and other amazing rock formations that surround all the small towns of Cappadocia. What’s even cooler is that the rocks have a lot of historical significance in terms of being used as houses, churches, and hide-outs. People back then (and now) would hollow out the cone-shaped rocks and build their homes in there. Now there are hotels, restaurants, and shops being built in these caves (which is super awesome). My favorites are the Christian churches, some of which have really well-preserved frescos. Another thing we saw was an underground city with so many different levels and an intricate system of rooms and escape tunnels – I wonder how they carved out such a thing. We also hiked through a beautiful valley along a river…in the rain. And then it started to hail. We were in shock b/c I swore it felt like it was about 50 or 60 degrees Fahrenheit outside.

Anyways, feel free to ask if you want more details of our trip (i.e. the other story).

Enjoy the photos!
